A team can start and play a regulation game with nine players. If a game is stated with nine players, and the tenth player arrives later, he/she must be inserted into the lineup in the tenth position in the batting order.
Teams must have a minimum of three women and three attorneys / court staff on the field to start a game. A team may finish a game with nine players provided they have a minimum of three women on the field.
An 11th player can be used as a designated batter in any position in the batting order.
Players must play in a minimum of three regular season games to qualify for tournament play.
Players may leave and re-enter the game one time. Player must re-enter in the same position in the batting order.
Equipment
No double wall, triple wall or titanium bats will be allowed. Game ball must be .44 core, blue stitch ball. Each team will need 11 and 12 inch balls.
Baseball shoes with metal spikes are not permitted.
Home Runs
The home run limit is three per game. All home runs after three will be counted as an out.
Walks
If a team walks a male batter and the next batter in the lineup is female, the female has the option to walk or bat. The female batter must indicate her intentions before being pitched to.
Mercy Rule
If after five complete innings of play, the visiting team is winning by 10 or more runs, or after 4 ½ innings of play, the home team is ahead by 10 or more runs the game will be terminated.
Regulation Game
A complete game is 4 ½ - 5 innings. If a game is called before it meets the requirements for a complete game, the game will resume where it was stopped.
Rained Out Games
If it rains the night before the game or the day of the game, call 545 – 3100 after 3:00 pm. If it rains after 4:30 pm the teams scheduled to play the 6:30 pm game must show up at the field.
The fitness of the ground for beginning a game shall be solely decided by the umpire, and / or the Parks and Recreation Department.
Rained out games will be rescheduled by the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department. Each team will notified as to the time and place of the game.
